    Our Story

    Exterior01  Chef Nora moved to DeLand with a strong desire to bring to Central Florida her culture and culinary background through vibrant and unique flavors. At a time of economic uncertainty, she was met with surprising challenges. DeLand had unflattering expectations of “Mexican” food and although Chef Nora’s cuisine was different, her lack of a restaurant experience left her and her family struggling to find the right “word of mouth”.
    The necessary changes came as a result of a partnership with local Stetson University. Students worked diligently with the De La Vega family to formulate a plan. With their help, De La Vega was able to carve out their place in the community. Armed with a fresh new look and attitude the restaurant was transformed.

     

    Chef Nora De La Vega channelled her childhood passion into a philosophy of food fusions. She created a menu that married the rich textures and flavors of center Mexico with innovation and a commitment to using fresh sustainable ingredients. De La Vega Restaurantey Galeria’s unique menu combines healthy Latin ingredients with international flavors and inventive culinary techniques to create a new and unexpected dining experience. Elaborate food creations prepared healthy and full of flavor.

    Fish Tamal

    A fresh fish filet soaked in "achiote" sauce combined with red onion, grilled squash and a bit of refried beans, cooked inside a corn husk for maximum flavor.
